Traditional Italian pastries and desserts
Morrone Pastry Shop represents Arthur Avenue’s continuing culinary evolution. Since opening in 2000, owner Ermanno Morrone has made it an essential destination for authentic Italian pastries crafted with traditional techniques and genuine passion.
Born in the Bronx to Calabrian immigrants, Ermanno grew up working on Arthur Avenue, absorbing the neighborhood’s food traditions and old-world craftsmanship. After graduating top of his class from the French Culinary Institute, he returned home to open Morrone Pastry Shop—bringing together his Calabrian heritage, formal training, and deep love for Italian baking.
Morrone’s showcases the full spectrum of Italian dolci: crispy cannoli filled to order with sweet ricotta, delicate sfogliatelle, rich ricotta cheesecake infused with orange essence, classic tiramisu, and traditional cookies from anisette biscotti to butter-rich amaretti. Their lobster tails are perfectly crisp outside and luxuriously creamy inside, while seasonal specialties like Christmas struffoli honor Italian traditions.
Everything is made fresh using recipes handed down through generations—no shortcuts, no substitutions, just honest ingredients crafted with skill. The shop maintains Arthur Avenue’s welcoming atmosphere where you can grab a single biscotti with espresso or order an elaborate celebration cake decorated exactly how you want it.
When you taste Morrone’s pastries, you’re experiencing centuries-old Italian baking traditions crafted by a Bronx-born pastry chef who trained at the highest level and returned home to share his gifts with the community that shaped him.
